The role of an EP physiologist/technician is vital and can influence the clinical outcome of a patient, including improving efficacy and potentially resulting in clinical complications, morbidity and mortality. For this reason the CEPIA faculty decided to set and maintain high clinical standards which are designed to improve the professional standing of the field and result in increased knowledge and improved clinical ability. To achieve competency at a level lower than what is stipulated is not sufficient, and does not convey a true understanding of the knowledge and skills required to be competent in the field of cardiac electrophysiology. A competency-based system was chosen over the bell curve method to ensure that all graduates possess a level of competency that satisfies the industry standard rather than just allowing a proportion of students to obtain a grading at any level.
Can I obtain a copy of my online assessment after its completion?
Assessment questions and answers are not provided to students after its completion as they may be used for future courses, so the integrity of future assessments needs to be protected. However to enable students to identify areas where they may need improvement, CEPIA does allow students to book personal one-on-one tutorials to discuss course content, assessments, workbooks or anything else that may need clarifying to facilitate learning.

The Cardiac Electrophysiology Institute of Australasia is an independent Registered Training Organisation (RTO) dedicated to the education and training of medical professionals in cardiac electrophysiology throughout the world. The CEPIA faculty is composed of respected electrophysiologists from throughout Australia, and course input is derived from electrophysiologists, physiologists, scientists, technicians and industry representatives throughout the world.
Who should attend the CEPIA Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology?
The CEPIA Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology is specifically tailored for allied professionals, nurses performing the technician role, EP registrars and fellows practicing in cardiac electrophysiology. It is designed to teach all there is to know about cardiac electrophysiology, from basic anatomy to advanced 2D and 3D mapping techniques, with an emphasis on the analysis of intracardiac recordings. Theoretical and practical skills shall be taught, endowing participants with the ability to perform any diagnostic or invasive electrophysiologic procedure, from syncope studies to atrial fibrillation ablation procedures.
Can I take online assessments without enrolling in the course?
No, online assessments can only be taken by registered participants of the CEPIA Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Can I obtain a Graduate Diploma totally online?
The course is a blend of on-demand content with scheduled live-streamed workshops delivered 100% online so can be accessed form anywhere in the world. So students from any country are encouraged to enrol.
Students have a total of 5 years in which to successfully complete all their assessments. The starting date commences upon successful registration and enrolment. Students may register and enrol at any time during the year and commence their learning immediately. After this time if a student still has assessments outstanding and wishes to continue on with the course additional fees will be incurred.
You can enrol at any time, and upon enrolment you will receive immediate access to all content including on-demand lectures, case studies, tutorials, hands-on demonstrations and live cases.
You will also be able to virtually attend all scheduled live-streamed workshops and book personal one-on-one tutorials.
Exams can be performed online, and workbooks can be completed at your own institution and uploaded to CEPIA for assessment. After successful completion of all workbook submissions and online assessments, a Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology will be issued.
Do I need to enroll in all 4 modules to receive a Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology?
Yes, all 4 modules and their respective units must be successfully completed before the qualification will be awarded.
Is it possible to attend the CEPIA Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology if I do not actually perform EPS?
The course is specifically tailored for those who are directly involved and participating in cardiac EPS. However if you are involved in cardiac electrophysiology but do not actually perform EPS (e.g. industry representatives etc), then you can enrol in the course and participate in the theoretical component only (i.e. no workbook submission or online assessment). Successful participants will receive CEPIA Statement of Attendance. There is no cost difference for not participating in the assessment component of the course.
Do I need any special software to sit the online assessments?
No – the assessments are totally online so require no special software. All you need is a broadband internet connection and any standard web-browser, although it is optimised for Google Chrome (Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc).
Where can I sit the online assessments?

What mark is needed to obtain competency?
In order to receive a Graduate Diploma you must successfully complete all fifteen online assessment activities to the required level of performance in the allocated time period as detailed in the Online Assessment section of the website. If you fail to meet the required level of performance you may apply to resit an assessment in the Assessment Resit time period (fees may apply).
Unsatisfactory performance in an assessment does not preclude you attending future modules. You are still able to attend future modules regardless of how you perform in this assessment.
Note that to receive the Graduate Diploma you must also complete all of the workbook activities successfully.
How long are the online assessments?
There are a total of fifteen (15) lectures delivered over the four (4) modules of the CEPIA Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology. Each module consists of a series of lectures, each of which has an accompanying online assessment. Each assessment will be timed and consist of a number of multiple-choice questions. Each assessment time limit and number of questions are detailed in the Online Assessment section of the website.
How do I know when to take the online assessments?
Each assessment will become available immediately upon enrolment, however it is recommended that students first complete each specific modules online education content before attempting any assessment. Assessments may be sat at any time, but the due date for assessment completion is 5 years from the date of enrolment. Each assessment must be sat and completed in a single, uninterrupted time period.
How do I find out my results?
You will be informed immediately after you complete your online assessment of your result. A more detailed summary of your results will be sent via email after the end of the assessment period.
What happens if I fail an online assessment?
If you fail to meet the required level of performance for an online assessment you may apply to resit an assessment in the Assessment Resit time period (fees may apply). Unsatisfactory performance in an assessment does not preclude you from attempting future modules. You are still able to attempt future modules regardless of how you perform in this assessment.
What happens after I have successfully completed the course?
Successful graduates will be awarded a CEPIA Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology which will be sent out via mail within 21 days after graduation.
What happens if I only partially complete the course?
A Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency satisfactorily completed if the full qualification is not completed (N.B. each unit consists of both online assessment and workbook submission). This will be sent out via mail within 12 weeks after course completion.
Do I have to complete the course in the order of 1, 2, 3, 4 or can I do them out of order?
The modules do not have to be completed in numerical order; however they have been designed so that each successive module assumes knowledge of the one prior. So for people who are already experienced in EP completing them out of order should not pose too much of a problem; however for someone who has no experience then beginning with module 2 would be much more difficult.
